What I Shoot for Restaurants

As a restaurant photographer, I don’t just photograph finished dishes – I capture the full experience of your restaurant:

  • Your food – Beautifully lit, naturally styled dishes for menus, websites, and delivery apps like Deliveroo
  • Your drinks – Cocktails, wine, beer, coffee – capturing the pour, the making, the finished serve
  • Your kitchen in action – Chefs working the line, dishes being plated, the pass during service
  • Your team – The people behind the food. Portraits and candid moments of chefs, bartenders, front-of-house
  • Your space – Interiors, bar setups, the atmosphere that makes people want to visit
  • Behind-the-scenes content – Documentary-style shots perfect for Instagram stories and building trust with customers

One shoot gives you menu photography plus weeks of social media content. Not just pretty plates – the whole story.

Restaurant Photography Across London, Leicester & the East Midlands

I work regularly with restaurants and bars across London, Leicester, and the East Midlands. Based in Rutland, I’m ideally positioned to cover the region – 15 minutes from Leicester, regular shoots in London, and quick access to Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire.

Recent clients include Cellar at Kindred in London, where I’ve photographed multiple projects over three years – seasonal menus, cocktail photography, Christmas dining, and behind-the-scenes kitchen content. This ongoing relationship demonstrates the quality and reliability that keeps restaurants coming back.

Whether you’re an independent restaurant in Leicester’s Clarendon Park, a London bar launching a new cocktail menu, or a country pub in the East Midlands, I work efficiently around your service with minimal disruption.

For delivery platforms like Deliveroo and Uber Eats, I shoot to their exact specifications (16:9 hero images, 1:1 menu items) so your photos get approved first time.

Comprehensive Food and Beverage Photography

Restaurant Interior & Atmosphere Photography

Your food gets customers interested, but your atmosphere makes them book. Interior and atmosphere photography captures the lighting, design details, and feeling that makes your venue special.

I photograph dining rooms, bar setups, table settings, and architectural features – the visual elements that help potential customers understand your space before they visit. These images are essential for your website, Google Business Profile, and booking platforms where people make split-second decisions about where to dine.

Shot during quiet periods to avoid disrupting service, focusing on the details that create your atmosphere: candlelit tables, the busy bar, unique decor, the view from a corner booth. Documentary-style photography that shows your space as it actually is, not artificial perfection.

These interior shots work alongside your food photography to tell the complete story of dining at your restaurant.

Behind-the-Scenes Restaurant Photography

Behind-the-scenes photography shows what happens before food reaches the table with the chefs working the line, dishes being plated, bartenders building drinks, the energy of service.

This content builds trust with customers and gives you weeks of social media material. People want to see who’s cooking their food, how dishes are made, the care that goes into each plate. Documentary-style shots captured during actual service, not staged scenarios.

I photograph kitchen action, team portraits, prep work, and the pass during service – the moments that show your restaurant’s personality and professionalism. Quick, efficient shooting that doesn’t interfere with your workflow.

Behind-the-scenes content separates you from competitors using stock photos. It’s authentic, it’s yours, and it tells customers exactly what kind of operation you’re running.

Restaurant Photographer FAQs

I know that bringing a photographer into your busy restaurant can feel like a disruption. My goal is always to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible for your team. Here are the questions I hear most often about shooting on-location and how I guarantee a seamless partnership.

Great question! To work effectively and set up minimal, controlled lighting, I need around a 3m x 3m space. This gives me enough room to work around the dishes, control shadows, and ensure the images are perfectly lit and styled without getting in anyone’s way. I’m pretty versatile though, I can work in most spaces if needed.

Minimal fuss, maximum collaboration! I just need your main contact (usually the chef or marketing manager) to have the final version of the dishes ready. My biggest tip is to have the ingredients prepped and ready to go—it makes our time with the chef super-efficient. I handle all the lighting and backgrounds, so you don’t have to worry about the technical setup.

Absolutely not. I specialise in shooting on-location with minimal intrusion. We can schedule the shoot during your quieter hours (often mid-morning or early afternoon) or work in an unused prep area. I use small, directional lighting that won’t interfere with your dining room or kitchen flow. My process is quick, contained, and designed to keep your business running smoothly.

If you want to shoot delivery app images at the same time, I will approach it as a dual strategy. I’ll use atmospheric, styled shots to sell the vibe for your website and social media (for dine-in appeal). Then, I’ll dedicate time to taking clean, close-up, and brightly lit shots that meet the strict technical standards of delivery apps. You get one investment that serves both critical services.

How Restaurant Photography Works

1. We discuss your needs
Quick call or email about what you’re after – menu update, full brand shoot, seasonal launch, delivery platform images. I’ll ask about your food, timing, and what you want to achieve.

2. We plan the shoot
I’ll create a shot list based on your menu. We’ll agree on timing that works best for you and your business. A quiet period, during service etc. Most restaurants book half-day for menu updates, full-day for complete photography.

3. I shoot on location
Half-day (3-4 hours) or full-day (6-8 hours) at your venue. I work quickly and quietly with minimal disruption. Professional photography without the drama or interference.

4. You get your images
